Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 48: The Ladies in Ayodhyā Lament
Text 2.48.30

पूर्वाभिभाषी मधुरः सत्यवादी महाबलः।
सौम्यश्च सर्वलोकस्य चन्द्रवत्प्रियदर्शनः॥

pūrvābhibhāṣī madhuraḥ satya-vādī mahā-balaḥ
saumyaś ca sarva-lokasya candravat priya-darśanaḥ

pūrva-abhibhāṣī = He speaks [to everyone] first [whenever required]; madhuraḥ = He is sweet; satya-vādī = He speaks the truth; mahā-balaḥ = He has great strength; saumyaḥ = is gentle; ca = and; sarva-lokasya = the whole world; candravat = like the moon; priya-darśanaḥ = His appearance pleases.

He speaks [to everyone] first [whenever required].1 He is sweet. He speaks the truth. He has great strength and is gentle. Like the moon, His appearance pleases the whole world.

He speaks to everyone first to make it clear that He is their well-wisher.

1 He doesn’t have an elitist attitude of avoiding “the low-class people.”
