Text 2.48.36

तथा स्त्रियो रामनिमित्तमातुरा यथा सुते भ्रातरि वा विवासिते।
विलप्य दीना रुरुदुर्विचेतसः सुतैर्हि तासामधिको हि सोऽभवत्॥

tathā striyo rāma-nimittam āturā
yathā sute bhrātari vā vivāsite
vilapya dīnā rurudur vicetasaḥ
sutair hi tāsām adhiko hi so ’bhavat

tathā striyaḥ = the women; rāma-nimittam = about Rāma; āturāḥ = distressed; yathā = as if; sute = a son; bhrātari = brother; = or; vivāsite = had been exiled; vilapya = lamented; dīnāḥ = piteously; ruruduḥ = and cried; vicetasaḥ = they became senseless; sutaiḥ hi = sons or brothers; tāsām = their; adhikaḥ = more valuable to them than; hi = because; saḥ = He; abhavat = was.

Distressed about Rāma, the women piteously lamented and cried as if a son or brother had been exiled. They became senseless because He was more valuable to them than their sons or brothers.
