Chapter 52: Rāma Crosses the Gaṅgā on Guha’s Boat
Text 2.52.49
यदि मे याचमानस्य त्यागमेव करिष्यसि।
सरथोऽग्निं प्रवेक्ष्यामि त्यक्तमात्र इह त्वया॥
yadi me yācamānasya tyāgam eva kariṣyasi
saratho ’gniṁ pravekṣyāmi tyakta-mātra iha tvayā
yadi = if; me = me; yācamānasya = who begs You thus; tyāgam eva kariṣyasi = You simply abandon; sarathaḥ = with the chariot; agnim = into fire; pravekṣyāmi = I will enter; tyakta-mātraḥ iha tvayā = as soon as You leave me here.
If You simply abandon me who begs You thus, I will enter into fire with the chariot as soon as You leave me here.
