Chapter 52: Rāma Crosses the Gaṅgā on Guha’s Boat
Text 2.52.55
न हि शक्या प्रवेष्टुं सा मयायोध्या त्वया विना।
राजधानी महेन्द्रस्य यथा दुष्कृतकर्मणा॥
na hi śakyā praveṣṭuṁ sā mayāyodhyā tvayā vinā
rājadhānī mahendrasya yathā duṣkṛta-karmaṇā
na hi śakyā = cannot; praveṣṭum = enter; sā = the city of; mayā = I; ayodhyā = Ayodhyā; tvayā = You; vinā = without; rājadhānī = [cannot enter] capital; mahā-indrasya = the great Indra’s; yathā = just as; duṣkṛta-karmaṇā = a person of sinful activities.
I cannot enter the city of Ayodhyā without You just as a person of sinful activities [cannot enter] the great Indra’s capital.

NOTE. While describing Indra’s capital, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 8.15.22 notes:
yāṁ na vrajanty adharmiṣṭhāḥ khalā bhūta-druhaḥ śaṭhāḥ
māninaḥ kāmino lubdhā ebhir hīnā vrajanti yat
“No one who was sinful, envious, violent toward other living entities, cunning, falsely proud, lusty or greedy could enter that city. The people who lived there were all devoid of these faults.”
