Chapter 52: Rāma Crosses the Gaṅgā on Guha’s Boat
Text 2.52.70
तौ तदा चीरवसनौ जटामण्डलधारिणौ।
अशोभेतामृषिसमौ भ्रातरौ रामलक्ष्मणौ॥
tau tadā cīra-vasanau jaṭā-maṇḍaladhāriṇau
aśobhetām ṛṣi-samau bhrātarau rāma-lakṣmaṇau
tau = the; tadā = then; cīra-vasanau = dressed in bark; jaṭā-maṇḍaladhāriṇau = and having knotted hair; aśobhetām = shone; ṛṣi-samau = like two sages; bhrātarau = brothers; rāma-lakṣmaṇau = Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa.
Then the brothers Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa, dressed in bark and having knotted hair, shone like two sages.
Even in that situation, Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa were attractive in appearance.
