भगवन्नित आसन्नः पौरजानपदो जनः।
सुदर्शमिह मां प्रेक्ष्य मन्येऽहमिममाश्रमम्॥
आगमिष्यति वैदेहीं मां चापि प्रेक्षको जनः।
अनेन कारणेनाहमिह वासं न रोचये॥
bhagavann ita āsannaḥ paura-jānapado janaḥ
sudarśam iha māṁ prekṣya manye ’ham imam āśramam
āgamiṣyati vaidehīṁ māṁ cāpi prekṣako janaḥ
anena kāraṇenāham iha vāsaṁ na rocaye
bhagavan = O powerful sage; itaḥ āsannaḥ = nearby; paura-jānapadaḥ janaḥ = people from the cities and countryside; sudarśam = can easily get to know that; iha = here; mām = I am; prekṣya = and having got to know this; manye aham = I think that; imam āśramam = to this āśrama; āgamiṣyati = will come; vaidehīm = Vaidehī; mām = Me; ca api = and; prekṣakaḥ = to see; janaḥ = people; anena kāraṇena = for this reason; aham = I; iha = here; vāsam = to reside; na = do not; rocaye = desire.
O powerful sage, I think that people from the cities and countryside nearby can easily get to know that I am here and having got to know this, people will come to this āśrama to see Vaidehī and Me. For this reason, I do not desire to reside here.
