Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 54: Rāmacandra Meets Bharadvāja Ṛṣi
Text 2.54.32
प्रविविक्तमहं मन्ये तं वासं भवतः सुखम्।
इह वा वनवासाय वस राम मया सह॥
praviviktam ahaṁ manye taṁ vāsaṁ bhavataḥ sukham
iha vā vana-vāsāya vasa rāma mayā saha
praviviktam = extremely lonely; aham manye = I think that; tam = that; vāsam = place is; bhavataḥ = to You; sukham = and so pleasing; iha = here; vā = or else; vana-vāsāya = in order to reside in the forest; vasa = reside; rāma = Rāma; mayā saha = with me.
I think that that place is extremely lonely and so pleasing to You. Or else, Rāma, reside here with me in order to reside in the forest.
GLOSS. The sage considers it inappropriate to tell Rāma to go away from his āśrama. Therefore he speaks the second line of this verse.
