Chapter 54: Rāmacandra Meets Bharadvāja Ṛṣi
Text 2.54.36
प्रभातायां रजन्यां तु भरद्वाजमुपागमत्।
उवाच नरशार्दुलो मुनिं ज्वलिततेजसम्॥
prabhātāyāṁ rajanyāṁ tu bharadvājam upāgamat
uvāca nara-śārdūlo muniṁ jvalita-tejasam
prabhātāyām = turned into day; rajanyām tu = when the night; bharadvājam = Bharadvāja; upāgamat = approached; uvāca = and spoke; nara-śārdūlaḥ = the prince; munim = to the sage; jvalita-tejasam = of blazing prowess [as follows].
When the night turned into day, the prince approached Bharadvāja and spoke to the sage of blazing prowess [as follows].1
1 Nara-śārdūlaḥ (“prince”) literally means “tiger among men.” We have translated this as “prince” throughout as it appears to be a customary reference to princes.
