Chapter 54: Rāmacandra Meets Bharadvāja Ṛṣi
Text 2.54.37
शर्वरीं भगवन्नद्य सत्यशील तवाश्रमे।
उषिताः स्मेह वसतिमनुजानातु नो भवान्।।
śarvarīṁ bhagavann adya satya-śīla tavāśrame
uṣitāḥ smeha vasatim anujānātu no bhavān
śarvarīm = the night; bhagavan = O powerful sage; adya1 satya-śīla = of truthful character; tava āśrame = at your āśrama; uṣitāḥ = we have spent; sma iha = here; vasatim = to go to our [next] spot of residence; anujānātu naḥ bhavān = please permit us.
O powerful sage of truthful character, we have spent the night here at your āśrama. Please permit us to go to our [next] spot of residence.
1 Technical note: adya śarvarīm.
This is a reference to the spot that the sage had spoken about earlier, [that is, Citrakūṭa].
