Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 55: Rāma Leaves Bharadvāja’s Āśrama and Crosses the Yamunā
Text 2.55.9

स पन्थाश्चित्रकूटस्य गतः सुबहुशो मया।
रम्यो मार्दवयुक्तश्च वनदावैर्विवर्जितः॥

sa panthāś citrakūṭasya gataḥ subahuśo mayā
ramyo mārdava-yuktaś ca vana-dāvair vivarjitaḥ

saḥ panthāḥ = through that forest route; citrakūṭasya = to Citrakūṭa; gataḥ = gone; subahuśaḥ = several times; mayā = I have; ramyaḥ = it is pleasant; mārdava-yuktaḥ = soft; ca = and; vana-dāvaiḥ = of forest fires 1; vivarjitaḥ = devoid.

I have gone several times through that forest route to Citrakūṭa. It is pleasant, soft and devoid of forest fires.

That forest route was soft because it was filled with fine sand.
