Chapter 55: Rāma Leaves Bharadvāja’s Āśrama and Crosses the Yamunā
Text 2.55.11

उपावृत्ते मुनौ तस्मिन्रामो लक्ष्मणमब्रवीत्।
कृतपुण्याः स्म सौमित्रे मुनिर्यन्नोऽनुकम्पते॥

upāvṛtte munau tasmin rāmo lakṣmaṇam abravīt
kṛta-puṇyāḥ sma saumitre munir yan no ’nukampate

upāvṛtte = departed; munau tasmin = when the sage; rāmaḥ = Rāma; lakṣmaṇam = Lakṣmaṇa; abravīt = told; kṛta-puṇyāḥ sma = we have performed pious activities [in the past]; saumitre = Lakṣmaṇa; muniḥ yat = for the sage; naḥ = unto us; anukampate = has been merciful.

When the sage departed, Rāma told Lakṣmaṇa: Lakṣmaṇa, we have performed pious activities [in the past] for the sage has been merciful unto us.
