ततोऽब्रवीन्महाबाहुर्लक्ष्मणं लक्ष्मणाग्रजः।
संनिवेद्य यथान्यायमात्मानमृषये प्रभुः॥
tato ’bravīn mahā-bāhur lakṣmaṇaṁ lakṣmaṇāgrajaḥ
sannivedya yathā-nyāyam ātmānam ṛṣaye prabhuḥ
tataḥ = then; abravīt = told; mahā-bāhuḥ = the mighty-armed; lakṣmaṇam = Śrī Lakṣmaṇa [the following]; lakṣmaṇa-agrajaḥ = the elder brother of Lakṣmaṇa; sannivedya = having presented; yathā-nyāyam = appropriately; ātmānam = Himself; ṛṣaye = to the sage; prabhuḥ = Lord Rāma.
The mighty-armed Lord Rāma, the elder brother of Lakṣmaṇa, having appropriately presented Himself to the sage, then told Śrī Lakṣmaṇa [the following].
Rāma appropriately presented Himself to the sage by identifying Himself as the son of so and so, that Lakṣmaṇa was His brother, that Sītā was His wife and that He had come for such and such a reason.
