Chapter 57: Sumantra Returns to Ayodhyā
Text 2.57.6
स शून्यामिव निःशब्दां दृष्ट्वा परमदुर्मनाः।
सुमन्त्रश्चिन्तयामास शोकवेगसमाहतः॥
sa śūnyām iva niḥśabdāṁ dṛṣṭvā parama-durmanāḥ
sumantraś cintayām āsa śoka-vega-samāhataḥ
saḥ1 śūnyām iva = it to be as if empty; niḥśabdām = and silent; dṛṣṭvā = noticing; parama-durmanāḥ = became extremely distressed in mind; sumantraḥ = Sumantra; cintayām āsa = he began to worry; śoka-vega-samāhataḥ = overcome by the force of sorrow.
Noticing it to be as if empty and silent, Sumantra became extremely distressed in mind. Overcome by the force of sorrow, he began to worry.
