कच्चिन्न सगजा साश्वा सजना सजनाधिपा।
रामसंतापदुःखेन दग्धा शोकाग्निना पुरी॥

kaccin na sagajā sāśvā sajanā sajanādhipā
rāma-santāpa-duḥkhena dagdhā śokāgninā purī

kaccit na = hasn’t; sagajā = with its elephants; sa-aśvā = horses; sajanā = people; sajana-adhipā = and their leaders; rāma-santāpa-duḥkhena = caused by sorrow and anguish about Rāma; dagdhā = been burnt; śoka-agninā = by the fire of distress; purī = the city.

Hasn’t the city with its elephants, horses, people and their leaders been burnt by the fire of distress caused by sorrow and anguish about Rāma?
