Chapter 57: Sumantra Returns to Ayodhyā
Text 2.57.8
इति चिन्तापरः सूतो वाजिभिः शीघ्रयायिभिः।
नगरद्वारमासाद्य त्वरितः प्रविवेश ह॥
iti cintā-paraḥ sūto vājibhiḥ śīghrayāyibhiḥ
nagara-dvāram āsādya tvaritaḥ praviveśa ha
iti cintā-paraḥ = absorbed in this anxiety; sūtaḥ = the sūta; vājibhiḥ = horses; śīghrayāyibhiḥ = with his swift-moving; nagara-dvāram = the gateway to the city; āsādya = reached; tvaritaḥ = quickly; praviveśa ha = he then entered the city.
Absorbed in this anxiety, the sūta reached the gateway to the city with his swift-moving horses. He then quickly entered the city.
Sumantra entered the city quickly to find out how the king was for he noticed that the city was devoid of people moving about and quiet.
