Chapter 57: Sumantra Returns to Ayodhyā
Text 2.57.26
स तूष्णीमेव तच्छ्रुत्वा राजा विभ्रान्तचेतनः।
मूर्च्छितो न्यपतद्भूमौ रामशोकाभिपीडितः॥
sa tūṣṇīm eva tac chrutvā rājā vibhrānta-cetanaḥ
mūrcchito nyapatad bhūmau rāma-śokābhipīḍitaḥ
saḥ = he then; tūṣṇīm eva = in silence; tat = those words; śrutvā = heard; rājā = the king; vibhrānta-cetanaḥ = since his mind was perplexed; mūrcchitaḥ = fainted; nyapatat = and fell; bhūmau = on the ground; rāma-śoka-abhipīḍitaḥ = greatly distressed in sorrow over Rāma.
Since his mind was perplexed, the king heard those words in silence. He then fainted and fell on the ground, greatly distressed in sorrow over Rāma.
