Chapter 57: Sumantra Returns to Ayodhyā
Text 2.57.29
इमं तस्य महाभाग दूतं दुष्करकारिणः।
वनवासादनुप्राप्तं कस्मान्न प्रतिभाषसे॥
imaṁ tasya mahā-bhāga dūtaṁ duṣkarakāriṇaḥ
vana-vāsād anuprāptaṁ kasmān na pratibhāṣase
imam = here is; tasya = from Him; mahā-bhāga = O greatly opulent [king]; dūtam = a messenger; duṣkarakāriṇaḥ = who has gone to carry out a difficult task; vana-vāsāt = from His forest residence; anuprāptam = to the messenger who has come; kasmāt = why; na = don’t; pratibhāṣase = you reply.
O greatly opulent [king], here is a messenger from Him who has gone to carry out a difficult task. Why don’t you reply to the messenger who has come from His forest residence?
