Chapter 59: Sumantra Describes the Agony of all Creatures in the Country
Text 2.59.28
वृत्तदंष्ट्रो महेष्वासः क्कासौ लक्ष्मणपूर्वजः।
यदि जीवामि साध्वेनं पश्येयं सीतया सह॥
vṛtta-daṁṣṭro maheṣvāsaḥ kvāsau lakṣmaṇa-pūrvajaḥ
yadi jīvāmi sādhv enaṁ paśyeyaṁ sītayā saha
vṛtta-daṁṣṭraḥ = His teeth are like the buds of the kunda jasmine; mahā-iṣu-āsaḥ = great archer; kva = where is; asau = that; lakṣmaṇa-pūrvajaḥ = the elder brother of Lakṣmaṇa; yadi = if; jīvāmi = I will live; sādhu = surely; enam = Him; paśyeyam = I could see; sītayā saha = with Sītā.
Where is that great archer, the elder brother of Lakṣmaṇa? His teeth are like the buds of the kunda jasmine. If I could see Him with Sītā, I will surely live on.
