Chapter 60: Kausalyā Continues to Lament
Text 2.60.4
बाष्पवेगोपहतया स वाचा सज्जमानया।
इदमाश्वासयन्देवीं सूतः प्राञ्जलिरब्रवीत्॥
bāṣpa-vegopahatayā sa vācā sajjamānayā
idam āśvāsayan devīṁ sūtaḥ prāñjalir abravīt
bāṣpa-vega-upahatayā = broken by the force of his tears; saḥ = the; vācā = voice; sajjamānayā = in a distressed; idam = with the following words; āśvāsayan = while consoling her; devīm = to the queen; sūtaḥ = sūta; prāñjaliḥ = joined his palms in supplication; abravīt = and spoke.
The sūta joined his palms in supplication and spoke to the queen while consoling her with the following words in a distressed voice broken by the force of his tears.
