Chapter 60: Kausalyā Continues to Lament
Text 2.60.9
नगरोपवनं गत्वा यथा स्म रमते पुरा।
तथैव रमते सीता निर्जनेषु वनेष्वपि॥
nagaropavanaṁ gatvā yathā sma ramate purā
tathaiva ramate sītā nirjaneṣu vaneṣv api
nagara-upavanam = to the orchards by the city; gatvā = by going; yathā = just as; sma ramate purā = she was happy in the past; tathā eva ramate = is happy; sītā = Sītā; nirjaneṣu = empty; vaneṣu api = in the forests.
Just as she was happy in the past by going to the orchards by the city, Sītā is happy in the empty forests.
