Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 60: Kausalyā Continues to Lament
Text 2.60.11

तद्गतं हृदयं ह्यस्यास्तदधीनं च जीवितम्।
अयोध्यापि भवेत्तस्या रामहीना तथा वनम्॥

tad-gataṁ hṛdayaṁ hy asyās tad-adhīnaṁ ca jīvitam
ayodhyāpi bhavet tasyā rāma-hīnā tathā vanam

tat-gatam hṛdayam hi = because her heart is in Him; asyāḥ = her; tat-adhīnam = surrendered to Him; ca = and; jīvitam = life is; ayodhyā api = Ayodhyā; bhavet = would be; tasyāḥ = for her; rāma-hīnā = in Rāma’s absence; tathā = just like; vanam = a forest.

Because her heart is in Him and her life is surrendered to Him, in Rāma’s absence Ayodhyā would be just like a forest for her.

With Rāma, the forest would be like Ayodhyā for Sītā-devī and without Rāma, Ayodhyā would be like a forest for her.
