एवमेव नरव्याघ्रः परलीढं न मन्यते॥

na pareṇāhṛtaṁ bhakṣyaṁ vyāghraḥ khāditum icchati
evam eva nara-vyāghraḥ para-līḍhaṁ na manyate

na = does not; pareṇa = by another animal like a wolf or jackal; āhṛtam = and brought; bhakṣyam = the remnants of food eaten; vyāghraḥ = a tiger; khāditum = to eat; icchati = desire; evam eva = in the same manner; nara-vyāghraḥ = the tiger among men; para-līḍham = which has been tasted by others; na = does not; manyate = honor.

A tiger does not desire to eat the remnants of food eaten and brought by another animal like a wolf or jackal. In the same manner, the tiger among men does not honor that which has been tasted by others.
