सो मूर्ध्नि बद्ध्वा रुदती राज्ञः पद्ममिवाञ्जलिम्।
संभ्रमादब्रवीत्त्रस्ता त्वरमाणाक्षरं वचः॥
sā mūrdhni baddhvā rudatī rājñaḥ padmam ivāñjalim
sambhramād abravīt trastā tvaramāṇākṣaraṁ vacaḥ
sā = she; mūrdhni baddhvā = and placed it on her head; rudatī = while crying; rājñaḥ = took her husband’s; padmam iva = like a lotus; añjalim = palms joined together; sambhramāt = and out of respect; abravīt = spoke; trastā = she became frightened; tvaramāṇā = she hurriedly; akṣaram = the following; vacaḥ = words.
While crying, she took her husband’s palms joined together like a lotus and placed it on her head. She became frightened and out of respect she hurriedly spoke the following words.
1 The exact remark in the commentary is: trastā dharmād bhītā. This also indicates that she was frightened of [losing] pious credits. All civilized men and women in Vedic civilization are careful about not losing their pious credits. Those seeking firm engagement in pure devotional service unto the Supreme Personality of Godhead should study this verse—yeṣāṁ tv anta-gataṁ pāpaṁ janānāṁ puṇya-karmaṇāṁ / te dvandva-moha-nirmuktā bhajante māṁ dṛḍha-vratāḥ: “Persons who have acted piously in previous lives and in this life and whose sinful actions are completely eradicated are freed from the dualities of delusion, and they engage themselves in My service with determination.” (Bhagavad-gītā 7.28)
