Chapter 63: Daśaratha Remembering Killing a Sage’s Innocent Son

रामलक्ष्मणयोश्चैव विवासाद्वासवोपमम्।
आविवेशोपसर्गस्तं तमः सूर्यमिवासुरम्॥
rāma-lakṣmaṇayoś caiva vivāsād vāsavopamam
āviveśopasargas taṁ tamaḥ sūryam ivāsuram
rāma-lakṣmaṇayoḥ ca eva = Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa; vivāsāt = because of banishing; vāsava-upamam = who resembled the Indra; āviveśa = overtook; upasargaḥ = a great calamity; tam = Daśaratha; tamaḥ = and dark Rāhu [overtakes]; sūryam = the sun; iva = just as; āsuram = the asuric.
Because of banishing Rāma and Lakṣmaṇa, a great calamity overtook Daśaratha who resembled Indra just as the asuric and dark Rāhu [overtakes] the sun.
Daśaratha’s great calamity was his distress about his sons.
