pāṇḍurāruṇa-varṇāni srotāṁsi vimalāny api
susruvur giri-dhātubhyaḥ sabhasmāni bhujaṅgavat
pāṇḍura-aruṇa-varṇāni = were yellow and red in color; srotāṁsi = streams of water; vimalāni api = the streams, though spotless; susruvuḥ = flowed; giri-dhātubhyaḥ = from the mountains with minerals; sabhasmāni = and contained ashes; bhujaṅgavat = resembling snakes.
Streams of water flowed from the mountains with minerals. The streams, though spotless, were yellow and red in color resembling snakes, and contained ashes.
Because the water had come in contact with yellow and red minerals, it was yellow and red in color. The ashes had come about due to forest fires. The streams flowed in a crooked manner like multicolored snakes.
