Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 64: Daśaratha Gives up his Life in Remembrance of Lord Rāma
Text 2.64.3

ततस्तं घटमादाय पूर्णं परमवारिणा।
आश्रमं तमहं प्राप्य यथाख्यातपथं गतः॥

tatas taṁ ghaṭam ādāya pūrṇaṁ parama-vāriṇā
āśramaṁ tam ahaṁ prāpya yathākhyāta-pathaṁ gataḥ

tataḥ = then; tam ghaṭam = the pot; ādāya = and took it; pūrṇam = I filled; parama-vāriṇā = with excellent water [of Sarayū]; āśramam tam = the āśrama [of his parents]; aham = I; prāpya = and reached; yathā-ākhyāta-patham = through the path he had spoken about; gataḥ = walked.

Then I filled the pot with the excellent water [of Sarayū] and took it. I walked through the path that he had spoken about and reached the āśrama [of his parents].

Tataḥ (“then”) indicates that Daśaratha then decided that carrying out the instruction of the son of the sage would lead to auspiciousness.
