Text 2.64.5
तन्निमित्ताभिरासीनौ कथाभिरपरिक्रमौ।
तामाशां मत्कृते हीनावुदासीनावनाथवत्॥
tan-nimittābhir āsīnau kathābhir aparikramau
tām āśāṁ mat-kṛte hīnāv udāsīnāv anāthavat
tat-nimittābhiḥ = about their son; āsīnau = they were sitting; kathābhiḥ = and talking; aparikramau = they were lame; tām āśām = and their hope; mat-kṛte = because of me; hīnau = would be destroyed; udāsīnau = they did not endeavor to do anything; anāthavat = and were like orphans.
They were sitting and talking about their son. They were lame and their hope would be destroyed because of me. They did not endeavor to do anything and were like orphans.
Daśaratha’s mind was already overcome by lamentation because of having killed their son. Now by seeing them he again became filled with anxiety. His sorrow increased.
