Chapter 64: Daśaratha Gives up his Life in Remembrance of Lord Rāma
Text 2.64.7

पदशब्दं तु मे श्रुत्वा मुनिर्वाक्यमभाषत।
किं चिरायसि मे पुत्र पानीयं क्षिप्रमानय॥

pada-śabdaṁ tu me śrutvā munir vākyam abhāṣata
kiṁ cirāyasi me putra pānīyaṁ kṣipram ānaya

pada-śabdam tu = the sound of footsteps; me = my; śrutvā = upon hearing; muniḥ = the sage; vākyam = the following words; abhāṣata = spoke; kim = why; cirāyasi = did you delay; me = my;  putra = son; pānīyam = drinking water; kṣipram = quickly; ānaya = give us.

Upon hearing the sound of my footsteps, the sage spoke the following words: “My son, why do you delay? Quickly give us drinking water.
