Chapter 64: Daśaratha Gives up his Life in Remembrance of Lord Rāma

त्वं गतिस्त्वगतीनां च चक्षुस्त्वं हीनचक्षुषाम्।
समासक्तास्त्वयि प्राणाः किं त्वं नो नाभिभाषसे॥
tvaṁ gatis tv agatīnāṁ ca cakṣus tvaṁ hīna-cakṣuṣām
samāsaktās tvayi prāṇāḥ kiṁ tvaṁ no nābhibhāṣase
tvam = you are; gatiḥ tu = the shelter; agatīnām ca = for us who don’t have any shelter; cakṣuḥ = our eyes; tvam = you are; hīna-cakṣuṣām = for we are devoid of eyes; samāsaktāḥ = are dependent; tvayi = on you; prāṇāḥ = our senses; kim = why; tvam = you; naḥ = to us; na = don’t; abhibhāṣase = talk.
“You are the shelter for us who don’t have shelter. You are our eyes for we are devoid of eyes. Our senses are dependent on you. Why don’t you talk to us?”
The sage spoke this much.
