Chapter 64: Daśaratha Gives up his Life in Remembrance of Lord Rāma
Text 2.64.17

भगवञ्शब्दमालक्ष्य मया गजजिघांसुना।
विसृष्टोऽम्भसि नाराचस्ततस्ते निहतः सुतः॥

bhagavañ śabdam ālakṣya mayā gaja-jighāṁsunā
visṛṣṭo ’mbhasi nārācas tatas te nihataḥ sutaḥ

bhagavan = O powerful sage; śabdam = that sound; ālakṣya = while targeting; mayā = I; gaja-jighāṁsunā = wanting to kill an elephant; visṛṣṭaḥ = shot; ambhasi = towards the water; nārācaḥ = an arrow; tataḥ = then; te = your; nihataḥ = was killed; sutaḥ = son.

O powerful sage, wanting to kill an elephant, I shot an arrow towards the water while targeting that sound. Then your son was killed.
