यदि मां संस्पृशेद्रामः सकृदद्य लभेत वा।
धनं वा यौवराज्यं वा जीवेयमिति मे मतिः।
यमक्षयमनुप्राप्ता द्रक्ष्यन्ति न हि मानवाः॥
yadi mām saṁspṛśed rāmaḥ sakṛd adya labheta vā
dhanaṁ vā yauvarājyaṁ vā jīveyam iti me matiḥ
yama-kṣayam anuprāptā drakṣyanti na hi mānavāḥ
yadi = if; mām = me; saṁspṛśet = would touch; rāmaḥ = Rāma; sakṛt = just once; adya = now; labheta = if he would obtain; vā = or; dhanam = wealth; vā = or; yauvarājyam vā = the position of a crown prince; jīveyam iti = I would live; me matiḥ = I think; yama-kṣayam = the residents of Yamarāja; anuprāptāḥ = who reach; drakṣyanti = get to see their relatives; na hi = do not; mānavāḥ = because men.
If Rāma would touch me now just once or if He would obtain wealth or the position of a crown prince, I think I would live because men who reach the residents of Yamarāja do not get to see their relatives.
Daśaratha implies that he therefore needs to see [Rāma] while he is alive.
