Chapter 64: Daśaratha Gives up his Life in Remembrance of Lord Rāma

अतस्तु किं दुःखतरं यदहं जीवितक्षये।
न हि पश्यामि धर्मज्ञं रामं सत्यपराक्रमम्॥
atas tu kiṁ duḥkhataraṁ yad ahaṁ jīvita-kṣaye
na hi paśyāmi dharmajñaṁ rāmaṁ satya-parākramam
ataḥ tu = so; kim = what could be; duḥkhataram yat = more distressful than this; aham1 jīvita-kṣaye = at the end of my life; na hi paśyāmi = I cannot see; dharmajñam = who knows dharma; rāmam = Rāma; satya-parākramam = the truly mighty.
So what could be more distressful than this? At the end of my life I cannot see the truly mighty Rāma who knows dharma!
