Chapter 66: Daśaratha’s Ministers Preserve his Body
Text 2.66.14
तैलद्रोण्यामथामात्याः संवेश्य जगतीपतिम्।
राज्ञः सर्वाण्यथादिष्टाश्चक्रुः कर्माण्यनन्तरम्॥
taila-droṇyām athāmātyāḥ saṁveśya jagatī-patim
rājñaḥ sarvāṇy athādiṣṭāś cakruḥ karmaṇy anantaram
taila-droṇyām = in a tub of oil; atha1 āmātyāḥ = the ministers; saṁveśya = placed; jagatī-patim = the king; rājñaḥ = to the king; sarvāṇi = all; atha ādiṣṭāḥ = upon being ordered [byVasiṣṭha and others]; cakruḥ = carried out; karmāṇi = of their duties; anantaram = and then.
The ministers placed the king in a tub of oil and then, upon being ordered [by Vasiṣṭha and others], carried out all of their duties to the king.

These duties included controlling the citizens.
