Chapter 67: The Sages Request Vasiṣṭha to Coronate a son of Daśaratha

नाराजके जनपदे चन्दनागरुरूषिताः।
राजपुत्रा विराजन्ते वसन्त इव शाखिनः॥
nārājake janapade candanāgaru-rūṣitāḥ
rāja-putrā virājante vasanta iva śākhinaḥ
na = do not; arājake = without a genuine king; janapade = in a land; candana-agaru-rūṣitāḥ = with their bodies smeared with sandalwood pulp and agaru; rāja-putrāḥ = the sons of the king; virājante = shine; vasante = in spring; iva = like; śākhinaḥ = trees.
In a land without a genuine king, the sons of the king do not shine with their bodies smeared with sandalwood pulp and agaru, like trees in spring.
