यदसौ मातुलकुले पुरे राजगृहे सुखी।
भरतो वसति भ्रात्रा शत्रुघ्नेन समन्वितः॥
तच्छीघ्रं जवना दूता गच्छन्तु त्वरितैर्हयैः।
आनेतुं भ्रातरौ वीरौ किं समीक्षामहे वयम्॥
yad asau mātula-kule pure rājagṛhe sukhī
bharato vasati bhrātrā śatrughnena samanvitaḥ
tac chīghraṁ javanā dūtā gacchantu tvaritair hayaiḥ
ānetuṁ bhrātarau vīrau kiṁ samīkṣāmahe vayam
yat = because; asau mātula-kule = in the home of His maternal uncle; pure = in the city; rājagṛhe = of Rājagṛha; sukhī = happily; bharataḥ = Bharata; vasati = resides; bhrātrā = His brother; śatrughnena = Śatrughna; samanvitaḥ = with; tat1 śīghram = quickly; javanāḥ = speedy; dūtāḥ = messengers; gacchantu = should go on; tvaritaiḥ = swift; hayaiḥ = horses; ānetum = to bring; bhrātarau = brothers; vīrau = the two heroic; kim = why should; samīkṣāmahe = delay; vayam = we.
Because Bharata happily resides in the home of His maternal uncle in the city of Rājagṛha with His brother Śatrughna, speedy messengers should quickly go on swift horses to bring the two heroic brothers. Why should we delay?
