Chapter 68: Vasiṣṭha’s Messengers go to Bring Bharata
Text 2.68.18
अवेक्ष्याञ्जलिपानांश्च ब्राह्मणान्वेदपारगान्।
ययुर्मध्येन बाह्लीकान्सुदामानं च पर्वतम्॥
avekṣyāñjali-pānaṁś ca brāhmaṇān veda-pāragān
yayur madhyena bāhīlīkān sudāmānaṁ ca parvatam
avekṣya = they noticed on its banks and then; añjali-pānan = who drank only a handful of water [a day to sustain themselves]; ca = and; brāhmaṇān = brāhmaṇas; veda-pāragān = experienced in Vedas; yayuḥ = departed; madhyena = through; bāhīlīkān = the lands of Bāhlīkas; sudāmānam = Sudāmā; ca = and; parvatam = the mountain.
They noticed, on its banks, brāhmaṇās experienced in Vedas and who drank only a handful of water [a day to sustain themselves] and then departed through the lands of Bāhlīkas and the mountain Sudāmā.
