Chapter 70: Bharata Departs from Rājagṛha
Text 2.70.21
तथामात्यानभिप्रेतान्विश्वास्यांश्च गुणान्वितान्।
ददावश्वपतिः क्षिप्रं भरतायानुयायिनः॥
tathāmātyān abhipretān viśvāsyāṁś ca guṇānvitān
dadāv aśvapatiḥ kṣipraṁ bharatāyānuyāyinaḥ
tathā = then; amātyān = ministers; abhipretān = his favorite; viśvāsyān ca = and trustworthy; guṇa-anvitān = well-qualified; dadau = arranged for; aśvapatiḥ = the King of Kekaya; kṣipram = quickly; bharatāya = Bharata; anuyāyinaḥ = to follow.
The King of Kekaya then quickly arranged for his favorite, well-qualified and trustworthy ministers to follow Bharata.
Amātyān indicates that these ministers would even give up their lives [for the king]. The king’s favorite ministers [were his] assistants.
