Chapter 71: Bharata Reaches Ayodhyā
Text 2.71.7
शीतीकृत्य तु गात्राणि क्लान्तानाश्वास्य वाजिनः।
तत्र स्नात्वा च पीत्वा च प्रायादादाय चोदकम्॥
śītīkṛtyā tu gātrāṇi klāntān āśvāsya vājinaḥ
tatra snātvā ca pītvā ca prāyād ādāya codakam
śītīkṛtyā tu gātrāṇi = by cooling them; klāntān = that had been fatigued due to long distance; āśvāsya = having consoled; vājinaḥ = the horses; tatra snātvā ca = He took bath; pītvā ca = drank water; prāyāt = then proceeded; ādāya = took; ca = and; udakam = water.
Having consoled the horses that had been fatigued due to the long distance by cooling them, He took bath, drank water, took water to drink and then proceeded.
The author here describes how He consoled them.
Bharata cooled the horses by keeping them under the shade and watering their backs. He took water to drink since He was to pass through a desert.
