Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 71: Bharata Reaches Ayodhyā
Text 2.71.13

सालांस्तु प्रियकान्प्राप्य शीघ्रानास्थाय वाजिनः।
अनुज्ञाप्याथ भरतो वाहिनीं त्वरितो ययौ॥

sālāṁs tu priyakān prāpya śīghrān āsthāya vājinaḥ
anujñāpyātha bharato vāhinīṁ tvarito yayau

sālān tu = trees 1; priyakān = the bandhūka and kadamba; prāpya = having reached; śīghrān = the fast; āsthāya = tied up; vājinaḥ = horses to His chariot; anujñāpya = took leave; atha = and; bharataḥ = Bharata; vāhinīm = of His army; tvaritaḥ = quickly; yayau = departed quickly.

Having reached the bandhūka and kadamba trees, Bharata quickly tied up the fast horses to His chariot, took leave of His army and departed quickly.

The land after Ujjihānā belonged to Bharata.1 Therefore, He considered that His army could come slowly and without fear. So He took leave of them and departed quickly.

1 The land belonged to the Ikṣvākus.
