Canto 2 -
Ayodhyā-kāṇḍa
Chapter 71: Bharata Reaches Ayodhyā
Text 2.71.24

araṇya-bhūteva purī sārathe pratibhāti me
na hy atra yānair dṛśyante na gajair na ca vājibhiḥ
niryānto vābhiyānto vā nara-mukhyā yathā-puram

araṇya-bhūtā = to be a forest; iva = like; purī = the city; sārathe = O charioteer; pratibhāti = appears; me = to Me; na hi = not; atra = this [city]; yānaiḥ = on palanquins; dṛśyante = do appear; na = neither; gajaiḥ = on elephants; na = nor; ca = or; vājibhiḥ = horses; niryāntaḥ = to be exiting; abhiyāntaḥ = entering; = or; nara-mukhyāḥ = important men; yathā-puram = like in the past.

O charioteer, the city appears to Me to be like a forest! Important men do not appear to be exiting or entering this [city]—neither on palanquins nor on elephants or horses—like in the past.

This is another way Ayodhyā was [different from how it was in the past].
