Chapter 71: Bharata Reaches Ayodhyā
Text 2.71.37
संमार्जनविहीनानि परुषाण्युपलक्षये।
असंयतकवाटानि श्रीविहीनानि सर्वशः॥
sammārjana-vihīnāni paruṣāṇy upalakṣaye
asaṁyata-kavāṭāni śrī-vihīnāni sarvaśaḥ
sammārjana-vihīnāni = they haven’t been cleansed; paruṣāṇi = they are filled with harsh [speech]; upalakṣaye = I see some homes of family men [here]; asaṁyata-kavāṭāni = and their doors aren’t bolted; śrī-vihīnāni = are devoid of beauty; sarvaśaḥ = all of them.
I see some homes of family men [here]. They haven’t been cleansed, they are filled with harsh [speech] and their doors aren’t bolted. All of them are devoid of beauty.
