Chapter 71: Bharata Reaches Ayodhyā
Text 2.71.40
देवतार्चाः प्रविद्धाश्च यज्ञगोष्ठ्यस्तथाविधाः।
माल्यापणेषु राजन्ते नाद्य पण्यानि वा तथा॥
devatārcāḥ praviddhāś ca yajña-goṣṭhyas tathā-vidhāḥ
mālyāpaṇeṣu rājante nādya paṇyāni vā tathā
devatā-arcāḥ = worship of the deities 4; praviddhāḥ = have stopped; ca = and; yajña-goṣṭhyaḥ = the sacrificial assemblies; tathā-vidhāḥ = so have; mālya-āpaṇeṣu = in the flower markets; rājante = look nice; na = don’t; adya = now; paṇyāni = items for sale; vā tathā = either.
Worship of the deities have stopped and so have the sacrificial assemblies. Now items for sale in the flower markets don’t look nice either.
