Chapter 72: Kaikeyī Informs Bharata About Daśaratha’s Death
Text 2.72.13
पितुर्ग्रहीष्ये चरणौ तं ममाख्याहि पृच्छतः।
आहोस्विदम्ब ज्येष्ठायाः कौसल्याया निवेशने॥
pitur grahīṣye caraṇau taṁ mamākhyāhi pṛcchataḥ
āho svid amba jyeṣṭhāyāḥ kausalyāyā niveśane
pituḥ = My father’s; grahīṣye = I would like to touch; caraṇau = feet; tam = about him; mama = Me; ākhyāhi = tell; pṛcchataḥ = I want to know; āho svit = or else; amba = mother; jyeṣṭhāyāḥ = of My seniormost; kausalyāyāḥ = Kausalyā; niveśane = is he in the residence.
I would like to touch My father’s feet. Tell Me about him; I want to know. Or else, is he in the residence of My seniormost mother, Kausalyā?
