Chapter 72: Kaikeyī Informs Bharata About Daśaratha’s Death
Text 2.72.18
ततः शोकेन संवीतः पितुर्मरणदुःखितः।
विललाप महातेजा भ्रान्ताकुलितचेतनः॥
ततः शोकेन संवीतः पितुर्मरणदुःखितः।
विललाप महातेजा भ्रान्ताकुलितचेतनः॥
tataḥ = then; śokena = by sorrow; saṁvītaḥ = overcome; pituḥ maraṇa-duḥkhitaḥ = and distressed by hearing His father’s death; vilalāpa = lamented [as follows]; mahā-tejāḥ = the greatly powerful Bharata; bhrānta-ākulita-cetanaḥ = His mind became unsettled and agitated.
Overcome by sorrow and distressed by hearing about His father’s death, His mind became unsettled and agitated. The greatly powerful Bharata then lamented [as follows].
