Chapter 72: Kaikeyī Informs Bharata About Daśaratha’s Death
Text 2.72.19
एतत्सुरुचिरं भाति पितुर्मे शयनं पुरा।
शशिनेवामलं रात्रौ गगनं तोयदात्यये॥
etat suruciraṁ bhāti pitur me śayanaṁ purā
śaśinevāmalaṁ rātrau gaganaṁ toyadātyaye
etat = this; suruciram = very beautiful; bhāti = looked; pituḥ = of father; me = My; śayanam = bed; purā = previously; śaśinā = with the moon; iva = like; amalam = and pure; rātrau = night; gaganam = sky; toyada-atyaye = the autumnal.
Previously this bed of My father looked very beautiful and pure like the autumnal night sky with the moon.
