Chapter 72: Kaikeyī Informs Bharata About Daśaratha’s Death
Text 2.72.26
स रुदित्वा चिरं कालं भूमौ विपरिवृत्य च।
जननीं प्रत्युवाचेदं शोकैर्बहुभिरावृतः॥
sa ruditvā ciraṁ kālaṁ bhūmau viparivṛtya ca
jananīṁ pratyuvācedaṁ śokair bahubhir āvṛtaḥ
saḥ = Bharata; ruditvā = cried; ciram kālam = for a long time; bhūmau = on the ground; viparivṛtya ca = while rolling; jananīm = to His mother; pratyuvāca = He replied; idam = in the following words; śokaiḥ = lamentation; bahubhiḥ = by much; āvṛtaḥ = overcome.
Bharata cried for a long time while rolling on the ground. Overcome by much lamentation, He replied to His mother in the following words.
