Chapter 72: Kaikeyī Informs Bharata About Daśaratha’s Death
Text 2.72.47
एवमुक्ता तु कैकेयी भरतेन महात्मना।
उवाच वचनं हृष्टा मूढा पण्डितमानिनी॥
evam uktā tu kaikeyī bharatena mahātmanā
uvāca vacanaṁ hṛṣṭā mūḍhā paṇḍita-māninī
evam = thus; uktā tu = spoke; kaikeyī = to Kaikeyī; bharatena = Bharata; mahā-ātmanā = when the greatly intelligent; uvāca = and spoke; vacanam = the following words; hṛṣṭā = she became delighted; mūḍhā = [though] foolish; paṇḍita-māninī = she considered herself very learned.
When the greatly intelligent Bharata spoke thus to Kaikeyī, she became delighted. [Though] foolish, she considered herself very learned and spoke the following words.
