Chapter 74: Bharata Condemns Kaikeyī
Text 2.74.7
मातृरूपे ममामित्रे नृशंसे राज्यकामुके।
न तेऽहमभिभाष्योऽस्मि दुर्वृत्ते पतिघातिनि॥
mātṛ-rūpe mamāmitre nṛśaṁse rājya-kāmuke
na te ’ham abhibhāṣyo ’smi durvṛtte pati-ghātini
mātṛ-rūpe = in the form of a mother; mama = My; amitre = O enemy; nṛśaṁse = O cruel lady; rājya-kāmuke = hankering for this kingdom; na te aham abhibhāṣyaḥ asmi = don’t talk to Me; durvṛtte = O woman of evil acts; pati-ghātini = O murderess of your husband.
O My enemy in the form of a mother, O cruel lady hankering for this kingsom, O woman of evil acts, O murderess of your husband, don’t talk to Me!
