Chapter 74: Bharata Condemns Kaikeyī
Text 2.74.24
एतौ दृष्ट्वा कृशौ दीनौ सूर्यरश्मिप्रतापितौ।
अर्द्यमानौ बलीवर्दौ कर्षकेण सुराधिप॥
etau dṛṣṭvā kṛśau dīnau sūrya-raśmi-pratāpitau
ardyamānau balīvardau karṣakeṇa surādhipa
etau = these two; dṛṣṭvā = [I am lamenting] upon seeing; kṛśau = emaciated; dīnau = distressed; sūrya-raśmi-pratāpitau = burning in the heat of the sun’s rays; ardyamānau = and being struck; balīvardau = bulls; karṣakeṇa = by a farmer; sura-adhipa = O maintainer of the devas.
O maintainer of the devas, [I am lamenting] upon seeing these two emaciated, distressed bulls burning in the heat of the sun’s rays and being struck by a farmer.
