Chapter 74: Bharata Condemns Kaikeyī
Text 2.74.30
अहं ह्यपचितिं भ्रातुः पितुश्च सकलामिमाम्।
वर्धनं यशसश्चापि करिष्यामि न संशयः॥
ahaṁ hy apacitiṁ bhrātuḥ pituś ca sakalām imam
vardhanaṁ yaśasaś cāpi kariṣyāmi na saṁśayaḥ
aham hi = I; apacitim = worship 1; bhrātuḥ = My brother; pituḥ = My father; ca = and [then]; sakalām = fully; imām = now; vardhanam yaśasaḥ = increase their fame; ca api = and; kariṣyāmi = will; na = no; saṁśayaḥ = doubt.
No doubt I will now worship My father fully and [then] My brother, and increase their fame.
Now Bharata wanted to worship His brother by granting Him the kingdom and His father by carrying out his final rites.
